Fall

Make the most of your stay

Fall in rural Maine is heart-stoppingly beautiful. Still warm until mid-October, the lake falls quiet after an action-packed summer. New activities arise, as the woods become the main attraction, with plenty of hunting and leaf-peeping opportunities. A perfect getaway before the winter sets in.

Soak in the scenery.

Fall is the most beautiful time of year on the lake, as the landscape becomes a riot of colour.

Go leaf-peeping.

It’s a popular season for leaf peepers, who come to enjoy the vibrant colours of the forest.

Fish.

This is a great place to fish year round. In fact, Fly Rod and Reel magazine rated University of Maine, in local Farmington as one of the top 10 universities in America for fishing. For good fly fishing, try Sandy River or Kimble Pond, for a start. Find out more here and here.

Clearwater has plenty of brook trout, lake trout and landlocked salmon. Anglers can also expect to find yellow perch, pumpkinseed, and smallmouth bass.

Kayak.

The water is astonishingly clear and it’s a wonderful time to kick back and enjoy early morning kayaks as the mist rises over the lake.

“There is honestly no better way to start every day then diving into a perfectly still lake as the sun rises over Camp Liberty.”
